Week 4/5 Recap

These couple weeks have been intense, basically the technical aspects of Maya polygon modeling is what we've been learning (along with 2D, basic animation/some other stuff that isn't presentable)

This post will be updated, but I can show what I learned in texturing class, which is a moving waterfall.

Also, matte speed painting! (10 mins)

Week 3 Recap

Animation class: Ended up making an ant for basic modeling with nurbs and surfaces, the end product can be seen here : http://vimeo.com/32225142

Modeling/3d Design : Polishing the Latern, finished too! (Not a HQ picture)

This week seemed to go by quite fast, we started learning about polys and everything is going to get more complex, very fast.

Week 1 Recap

Hello everyone!

Just a little intro on myself:
My name is Michael Jang, currently attending the Digital Animation program at BCIT.
The only 3D(animation) I have worked on can be seen here http://vimeo.com/21053956. But
If you'd like to see my earlier (highschool) portfolio, click HERE (http://michaeljangportfolio.webs.com/)

Anyways,

Week 1.

Classes include Texturing, project portfolio, 2 - 2D animation classes, 3D animation, 3D design, and 3D Production.

2D Animation definitely builds the foundation that everyone will use in their movies/reels. We're starting out small, at a bouncing ball, using the fundamentals of squash and stretch, along with a few other little tricks.

3D Animation  's first class was pretty simple, but expected. Using Softimage, we're having to create characters out of basic poly's, which is challenging but quite fun. (I hate Softimage >:[  )

3D Design/Production   Definitely my favorite classes. I'm grouping them together for now since they're practically the same course, but will eventually branch out and be quite difficult. We're starting simple with creating a snowman, and practice with parenting, naming, and groups. As I looked around the class I noticed we all had grey, untextured models. I decided to texture/bump map/light up this assignment, giving it more "Flair!" (pictures next post)
